Without prior experience using Garmin or other products its not intuitive what they are, and what is the perspective towards target values

Confirmed. This needs to be properly covered in onboarding flow and likely have tooltip to remind the user why numbers go up and down. Fitness status (Maintaining, etc.) don't suffice.
